One female international aid worker was abducted from her home in El-Fasher in North Darfur by armed gunmen. Some reports say that a ransom was demanded for her release, although those reports currently cannot be corroborated. Neither can reports that allege that she was abducted by pro-government factions in protest to not having received their salaries. Some reports also state that she was working for a Swiss INGO which provides aid to children. United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Sudan, Ms. Marta Ruedas, made a statement in regards to this incident calling for the release of the aid worker.  Update: She was released on November, 15th, 2018. Reportedly, no ransom was paid by the host government or home government. Two members of the kidnapping team were arrested. It is possible that she ran her own charity although this has not been verified at this time.
