Armed with automatic weapons and rocket-propelled grenades the insurgent group attacked the military post guarding the camp. Initial reports state that 3 aid workers contracted by the UN (from two different agencies), all Nigerian nationals, were killed in the attack. One nurse, a third party contractor to a UN agency, was kidnapped. Two midwives, both female aid workers and supported by an INGO, were also kidnapped by the militant group. Other unconfirmed reports suggest that there may have been more abductions. This incident will be updated when more information becomes available. Updates: 1. (Kidnapped/killed - Monday, September 17th, 2018) One of the kidnapped midwives was killed on or around September 17th. The Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria called the act, "cowardly, heinous and despicable." She was killed by Boko Haram while she was held captive. 2. (Kidnapped/killed) - On October 16th, 2018 the ICRC confirmed that another female healthcare worker (midwife) that had been kidnapped by Boko Haram in March was executed by the group.
